What's Down with the Brown?

Welcome - failte - namaste - bienvenidos to the latest edition of the Brownbag Magazine. Our readership has been steadily rising since the turn of the year and we thank you for continuing to check us out. Once again we have been slaving over the hot grill of the word processor to serve up a veritable feast of articles to devour this barbecue season. It promises to be a long hot summer, but take some time out to indulge in a little light reading with us. This issue we have musings on modern life and a special feature by Made In India? Director Deepti Paul on the impact the movie.

Made in India?

  • May was a busy month with the movie screened to students and alumni of Drexel University, LaGuardia Community College and City College of NY. The next scheduled college appearance is at Wagner College in September. If you are interested in showing Made in India? at your school please email us at info@brownscapeprod.com

  • Final Big Screening

    • After 10 festival appearances, don’t miss your last chance to see Made in India? on the big screen. We’ll be at the Anthology Film Archives on July 19 at 7:30pm. Also on the bill is the premier of the brand new trailer for Brownscape’s latest film Browntown, a dramedy about two immigrant cops fighting hate crimes in Queens

  • Check out the Brownscape Channel on YouTube when you’re done with solitaire. We add new videos every month! Thanks for the support for the MII trailer, which is already past 5,000 hits!  We’ve received so much great feedback that we had to start a Mail Bag!

  • Brownscape’s Mery Diaz launched the “Microcinema in the Heights” film festival in June through the support of WHCAP, Uptown Arts Stroll, Heights Entertainment, and MNN. Brownscape supported this venture by screening Made in India? at the event.

Browntown Update

  • Browntown has wrapped its trailer shoot! Currently locked away in a dark editing suite, Deepti promises to emerge with the completed trailer in time for the July 19 premiere. Check out production stills here: http://browntowntrailer.shutterfly.com

  • Meanwhile chief writer Alex Heyward continues to work hard on the script of the feature, in fact so hard that his pen burst into flames last week, he reports.
